Furniture Build PT 1

It’s been a long week waiting for our struts to arrive so we can start the furniture build!

Let’s Get Slotting

An extremely large parcel arrived first thing, it’s our first batch and contains all the struts we’d need to get the kitchen unit and shower units built. We were both super excited and rushed outside to make a start.

The parcel had been packed extremely well and it took some doing with scissors to get into as the struts themselves had been wrapped in some tough cellophane. It took a little while to measure and pile up the pieces before we could get started actually putting it all together.

Ben had purchased some angle brackets ready for the construction, we hoped having the official nuts and bolts would help speed up the installation. It wasn’t till we got down to the actual building that we realised that this system is not as ‘as put together’ as advertised. The angles go on well with no problems but this system is a bit of a pain and you do have to plan ahead, we found ourselves having to undo part’s that we’d already put together to add another nut in for a strut that would put put in further down the line.

It was a long day crouching around on the floor getting everything in place and finally positioning it within the van. We were pretty pleased with our progress and it’s so great to see the van finally coming together. Sorry that there is not much to write about with the actual construction but I do hope you enjoy the results.

The rest of the week will be spent conferring with my Sketchup diagram and ordering the next batch of the struts, this will hopefully allow us to start the cupboards that will continue on from the shower and then finally move on to the seating, bed and garage struts.
